Description:

A bus carrying pilgrims has veered off the road near the Syrian capital, Damascus, leaving four Iranian nationals dead. The bus was carrying Iranian pilgrims to the shrine of Zainab (BPUH) on the outskirts of Damascus, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Zainab (PBUH) was a sister of Imam Hossein (BPUH), and a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Some 40 passengers were injured in the accident. They have been transferred to hospital, said Akhavan, adding that Iran's Red Crescent personnel in Damascus would follow up their treatment. "Only seven pilgrims were not hurt in the accident. They were sent to Damascus," he added. In a similar incident two months ago, three Iranians were killed on the road, some 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of the Syrian capital.
