For others the question is: What kind of fish is that? It turns out the interesting looking fish isn't that uncommon after all, but it should be uncommon to see it at Lake Casa Blanca. Game wardens say it’s the result of the recent cold snap. “The cold weather dropped the temperature just enough that these fish which are actually tropical fish they cant sustain life.” Gaulden says besides the armored catfish, game wardens are also finding tilapia dying from the cold. Dumping the unwanted "invasive species" into the lake is actually in violation of a state law but it happens all the time. Thursday morning’s clean up resulted in buckets full of dead fish and only hours later more have appeared.
