Description:

A severe weather system, which may have included two or three tornado touchdowns, caused damage across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia Thursday afternoon. The storm's first damage occurred about 12:45 p.m. in St. George, in Charlton County, Ga., the National Weather Service reported. St. Johns County has reports of two trees down along North Florida 13, one down at County Road 16A and another at County Road 208, according to the Sheriff's Office. Another tree was down in the 1500 block of Arapaho. There was a minor fire at a power pole on Old Moultrie Road and power lines were down on Wildwood Drive. As a result of the storm, St. Johns County school buses in the northwest portion of the county were delayed for about an hour. In St. Johns County, the storm was also a factor in three traffic accidents, two on Interstate 95 and one on County Road 208. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office also reported an industrial accident at the U.S. 1 overpass at Nocatee. Two workers were reported blown off overpass by winds. One subjectwas treated at scene. The other was taken to Baptist South with non-life threatening injuries. The storm was expected to pass through the area overnight.
