Situation Update No. 3 On 2009-12-19 at 06:09:06 [UTC] Event: Snow Storm Location: United Kingdom England England-wide Situation: More than 2,000 passengers trapped inside the Channel Tunnel overnight after four Eurostar trains broke down in wintry weather are being moved. It is thought the trains - all headed to London from Paris - failed as they left the cold air in northern France and entered the warmer air inside the tunnel. "All the passengers are safe," he said. "We don't have any casualties," said Eurostar spokesman Bram Smets. Two of the Eurostars are making their way to London St Pancras, pushed by diesel trains, he added. A third Eurostar train's passengers were taken by Eurotunnel shuttle to the terminal in France. A third train's passengers were evacuated onto a Eurotunnel shuttle train and have arrived in Folkestone. They will be taken to St Pancras in another Eurostar train. | | | | |
