The county council's trading standards team is warning smokers to avoid buying counterfeit tobacco amid fears sellers are targeting children. Officers seized 1,500 packets of counterfeit cigarettes during nine operations in Preston, Burnley and Nelson last year. And a Trading Standards North West survey revealed one in five sales across the region were from illegal sources.
