Description: Parts of the Bollenstreek, a region in the Dutch provinces of North and South Holland, were left without power on Saturday evening, officials said. Officials with both Nuon, a Dutch energy company, and the country’s energy distribution network operator confirmed the blackout. “Due to unknown cause a power station of TenneT in Sassenheim on Saturday evening around 7.30 p.m. [local time] caused an energy disruption,” the national Transmission System Operator of the Netherlands (TenneT) wrote in a statement on its website. TenneT estimated it lost about 100 megawatt of capacity due to the blackout, leaving multiple cities without power. The municipalities of Lisse, Sassenheim, Voorhout, Katwijk, Noordwijk and Hillegom are without power. About 160,000 people live in the affected area. It was not immediately clear how long the outage may last.
