Event: Flash Flood
Location: Kenya State of Rift Valley River Kilimo Naivasha

Number of Deads: 30 person(s)
Number of Missing: 60 person(s)

Situation:

Torrential downpours and flooding associated with the "El Nino" weather phenomenon continued to wreak havoc in Kenya Monday, local media reported. At least seven people were killed and one person missing following the flooding at the weekend, bringing the death toll for the past week to 32. Tens of thousands of Kenyans have lost their homes and livelihoods as fields and livestock were destroyed by the floods. Bridges, houses, and schools had been washed away, and many streets were still underwater. The United Nations was distributing food and medicine to the flood survivors. In addition, it was working to ensure purified drinking water was available to prevent further outbreaks of cholera, already reported in some affected regions.
