Description: At least 11 workers at the Durban Harbour have been injured after a ship’s hatch slammed into a taxi they were travelling in on Sunday morning. The vehicle was on the key-side while the heavy hatch was being moved overhead at the time of the collision. Netcare 911’s Jeffrey Wicks said the cover struck the side of the taxi, which then veered from its path and skidded to a halt a short distance away. “All occupants sustained serious injuries and they were treated and stabilised by medics at the scene before they were transported by ambulance to the Netcare St. Augustan’s Hospital for medical care that they required,” Wicks said.
