Description: A persistent cold wave that has blanketed much of North America has left at least nine people dead in Mexico, Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova Villalobos said Saturday. He indicated most of the deaths occurred in the northern states of Mexico, where temperatures in the mountainous region dropped to minus 10 degrees Celsius. Rain and snow has fallen on the higher altitudes of Mexico, and even the 2000-metre-high Mexico City had snow remaining on the ground.
