Description: Some 25,000 people were left without electricity as a powerful quake damaged power lines in California, the Los Angeles Times said on Sunday. A 6.5-magnitude quake has been registered off the coast of northern California at 00:27 GMT. Its epicenter was located at the depth of 21.7 km (13.5 miles), some 43 km (27 miles) west of the city of Ferndale. "We've got some downed power lines as well as some other damage to other equipment," Jeff Smith, spokesman for Pacific Gas & Electric Co was quoted as saying. There are also reports of gas leaks.
