San Francisco Municipal Railway officials reported an accident Tuesday afternoon involving an F-Market streetcar and 10-Townsend bus, injuring 15 people. The accident occurred around 4:40 p.m. at Market and Second streets, and the initial assessment is that the rail car hit the bus, which in turn ran into a private vehicle. 10 of the people injured were treated at the scene and the other five were transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Traffic was snarled in the area for much of the afternoon, including a pileup of Muni buses, as police investigated the scene. Muni provided bus shuttles for those stuck in the area. Transportation officials said all aspects of the accident remain under investigation.
