Description: Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant spilled about 1,000 gallons of water contaminated with radioactive tritium Wednesday morning, according to a report filed with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The water escaped from a condensate storage tank. It poured on the ground for at least two hours at an estimated rate of two gallons per minute, according to the report. According to the report, Tennessee Valley Authority operators are attempting to mitigate the spill to avoid contamination of groundwater.
