Description:

Hobart has had its warmest March for more than a century. The average maximum temperature was almost 23C, three degrees above the long-term norm and the warmest in 70 years. There were eight days of 25C or more, which had only happened two other times in the past 20 years, said Weatherzone. The average minimum temperature of 13.5C is the warmest since records began over 110 years ago. Combining minimum and maximum temperatures revealed Hobart sweated through its warmest March on record, said meteorologist Samuel Terry. He said northerly winds had forced in air from warmer parts of the country and there had been a lack of strong cold fronts and rain, which would normally help to flush out heat.
