Number of Deads: 38 person(s)
Number of Injured: 102 person(s)

Situation:

38 Dead, 102 Injured After 2010 Moscow Subway Explosion and Moscow Suicide Bombings. Today is a day of sadness in Russia, as twin suicide bombings have killed a reported 37 people. Of course, as time goes on the death toll could rise as could the injury counts. The alleged suicide bombers are both believed to be women who detonated explosives tied to their person. The first explosion took place before 8:00 am near the station around the headquarters of the Federal Security Service – a Russian Spy Agency. The second explosion occurred about forty-five minutes later and devastated a train in the Park Kultury station. Explosives used are believed to amount to about 9 pounds on the first bomb and 4.4 pounds on the second bomb. Russian authorities are searching for two other women believed to have accompanied the women to the subway, but they cannot be found. Today’s attacks were calculated; the bombs contained scraps of metal to ensure that they were as deadly as possible. In addition, the bombings occurred during the morning rush hour, signifying the desire to kill as many civilians as possible. People in Moscow are urged to stay home, as the Subway system and surface roads have now become clogged as authorities try to sort out the wreckage and as the system has incurred damage. Today’s suicide bombings and subway explosion is the worst since an attack in 2004 killed 39 people on a subway train. Our thoughts are with the Russian people at this time, and our thoughts are especially with friends and family of those injured by this heinous attack.
