Situation:

At least eight persons have so far died allegedly of sun stroke in Orissa even as the Met office has forecast prevalence of heatwave condition over some interior parts of the state. Of the total eight alleged sun stroke death cases, two were confirmed by district collectors of Balasore and Jajpur, a government official said. Allegations of two sunstroke deaths each were reported from Cuttack, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj districts. While the reason of death in one case was not due to sun stroke, other cases were under investigation, the official said. Temperature above 40 degree C was recorded at seven towns of the state today, met office sources said. The highest 42.4 degree C was recorded at Jharsuguda followed by Sambalpur (42), Sundergarh (41), Balangir (40.6), Titlagarh (40.5) and 40 degree C each at Angul and Talcher.
