The children in Simaria village in Araria, about 400 km from here, suffered from high fever and a type of rash before they died, a district administration official said. Nearly half of the villagers have shifted to neighbouring villages in panic. “Some have already fled and others are planning to leave the village following the deaths,” villager Ghafoor Ahmad said. District civil surgeon Dhanushdhari Singh admitted to the deaths of the children due to the mysterious disease. “A medical team was sent to the village for treatment,” he said. But the villagers said the team returned without treating anyone.
