A GMA News' Flash report quoted Dr. Eric Tayag of the National Epidemiology Center of the Department of Health (DOH) as saying that the fatalities, composed of three eight-month-old babies and one 11-month-old baby, are all from Manila’s Tondo district. DOH said the number of recorded measles cases in the country from January 1 to February 20 has already reached 954, or three times higher compared to the figure for the same period last year. Earlier, the agency said the number is expected to increase by 1,500 in March. At the same time, the number of areas with reported measles cases has also increased. The latest additions are the market fishport in Navotas; Siniloan, Laguna; Calinog, Iloilo; and some rural villages in Davao city.
