Description: The snow storms that have hit areas across Europe are the worst recorded in 25 years. On the Spanish border with France thousands of lorries were left stranded in sub zero temperatures after 40 roads were blocked by snow over a metre (3ft) deep. In the Aude region of southern France, firefighters and rescue workers brought hot drinks and food to 1,800 passengers stuck on trains, and 550 pensioners and school children on bus tours to Spain.
