Situation Update No. 1 Posted:2010-03-11, 04:08:42 [UTC] Ref.no.: TO-20100311-25277-USA Situation Update No. 1 On 2010-03-11 at 04:45:29 [UTC] Event: Tornado Location: USA State of Arkansas Benton, White and Hempstead Counties Number of Injured: 1 person(s) Situation: Authorities say at least one person was injured and several homes were damaged as tornadoes touched down in Arkansas. Arkansas Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Renee Preslar said Wednesday one person was injured in White County in the Center Hill area. According to the National Weather Service, a tornado touched down near the central Arkansas town. Authorities said also nine houses in the county were damaged, and trees and power lines were blown down. Tornado warnings also were issued for Saline County but no tornado had been confirmed. Lt. Scott Courtney of the Saline County sheriff's office says about a dozen homes were damaged by wind and treens were knocked down near Benton. In southwest Arkansas, a tornado did minor damage to one building, snapped trees and downed power lines near Ozan in Hempstead County.
