On 2010-03-02 at 07:47:35 [UTC]

Event: Biological Hazard
Location: Brazil State of Rio de Janeiro Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon Rio de Janeiro

Situation:

Thousands of dead fish have washed up on a lagoon in Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil. Environmental officials are trying to work out what happened. Some think it could be due to a type of algae that takes oxygen out of the water, which means the fish can't breath. But others believe that sewage that had been pumped onto beaches nearby may be the cause. Leah reports on why people in the area want the Government to step in and help.
