Description:

The bird flu epidemic has recurred in five provinces including Ca Mau, Dien Bien, Soc Trang, Nam Dinh and Khanh Hoa. Khanh Hoa is the latest province struck by the epidemic, which infected 770 chickens in Ninh Hoa district and 6,000 birds in Van Ninh district. The Veterinary Department acting director, Hoang Van Nam, says there is still a high risk of the disease spreading to other localities, especially in the Mekong Delta region. The resurgence of the disease is attributed to inadequate control of cross-border transporting and slaughtering. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has intensified prevention measures in localities that are at risk. MARD Deputy Minister Diep Kinh Tan will work with the Mekong Delta provinces to try to contain the disease.
